The FACS Facility of the Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol provides the following services:

Cellular separation (FACSVantage)

The cell sorter allows us to separate cells in function of previously defined parameters. To purify different cellular populations, flow cytometry is specially designed for applications that require a high purity. The use of multiple fluorochromes simultaneously allows to classify and to separate cellular subsets in function of the expression of different markers. The preparation of the cell sorting experiment demands a series of previous steps that you should talk in advance with the head of the Facility.

Acquisition and analysis analyzer flow cytometer

FACScan and EPICS XL are analyzing cytometers that the user can prepare to carry out different studies. This equipment can be used directly for the user, either crediting experience on handling it or receiving training by the personnel of the Facility. Additionally, the cellular sorter FACSVantage can be used like an analyzer cytometer, mainly if you need UV laser.

Digital microscopy

Optic fluorescence microscope Zeiss Axioskop 2 with image processing software OpenLab (Improvision Ltd.). Deconvolution by software and 3D reconstruction.

Consultancy service about topics related with flow cytometry.

Courses

Design of personalized courses (check this link for flow cytometry courses). Annually we used to have a course on principles and applications in flow cytometry at HUGTiP .

Cell Sorter FACSVantage (Becton Dickinson)

Coherent Enterprise dual 488/357(UV) nm laser. Sorting 3.000 cell/s. MacroSort Option for large-particle sorting. ACDU (Automated Cell Deposition Unit) sorting on 96 wells plates and slides. Workstation Consort 32 with Lysis II, Paint-a-gate and ACDU software.

Coulter EPICS XL Flow Cytometer

Argon laser (488nm) and detecting four fluorescences simultaneously. Includes 32-tubes loader. Acquisition and analysis software System II (PC Pentium II).

FACScan Flow Cytometer (Becton Dickinson)

Argon laser (488nm), let you work with five parameters (FSC, SSC and three fluorescences). FACStation Apple Macintosh with CellQuest, Paint-a-Gate, ModFit and Attractors software.

Digital Microscopy

Optical Fluorescence Microscope Zeiss Axioskop 2. Color Camera Hamamatsu C5810. Image processing software Openlab (Improvision Ltd. England) in Apple Macintosh G3 and G4. Digital confocal imaging, morphometry and 3D reconstruction.
